ISAF soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier was killed by an insurgent attack today in southern Afghanistan.

“We are saddened by this brave soldier's death, and offer our heartfelt condolences to the soldier's family and friends,” said Brigadier-General Richard Blanchette, ISAF Spokesperson.  “Through our grief, we are strengthened in our resolve to help bring security and stability to Afghanistan.”

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been notified.
