ISAF soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device on 7 March in southern Afghanistan.

"I offer our deep sympathy to the family of our fallen soldier, and our support to our injured comrades," said Brigadier-General Richard Blanchette, ISAF Spokesperson.  "All of ISAF grieves today, and we renew our commitment to defeat this vicious insurgency."

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been notified.
