ISAF, ANSF complete parallel operations in Uruzgan


KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), supported by ISAF soldiers from Task Force Uruzgan, completed operations to improve the security situation in Uruzgan Province Dec. 17.

During simultaneous operations in the Deh Rahwood and Mirabad areas in Tarin Kowt, the joint patrols established contact with local Afghans.

During Operation Bakhud Ghar, in the area of Deh Rahwood, the Afghan National Army (ANA) and ISAF soldiers patrolled the west side of the Helmand River. The Provincial Reconstruction Team was part of the operation to establish contacts with the population of those areas. A parallel operation was conducted in the area of Mirabad.

During both operations, meetings were held with tribal elders without attack from insurgents; tribal elders play a key role in governmental development.

Patrols such as these, lead by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) supported by ISAF; continue to improve the security situation in Uruzgan Province. ANSF and ISAF’s operations are a necessary effort that makes reconstruction and development possible in areas where the extremists resort to violence to prevent progress.
