Zabul PRT receives new commander

KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF’s Zabul Provincial Reconstruction Team received a new commander during a ceremony Nov. 14.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Torelli assumed command from Lieutenant Colonel Bryce Brackman.

Brigadier General John Nicholson Jr., Regional Command-South’s deputy commander for stabilization, presided over the ceremony in front of an audience of both ISAF partners and Afghan government officials.

“Zabul PRT is honoured to be in this beautiful country of Afghanistan,” Torelli said. “The professional and highly skilled men and women of Zabul PRT are motivated and will work alongside our Afghan people, Task Force Zabul and other coalition forces.”

The next year will be important for the Zabul PRT and the people of Zabul province, commented General Nicholson. The 2009 elections will require teamwork between the organizations for a positive outcome.

“Reconstruction and development is a long process,” Torelli said. “Our team will work to set the next reconstruction team up for success, so we can rebuild this country together.”

Zabul PRT is tasked with the reconstruction and development of the province.
