ISAF forces wound ANA patrol

KABUL, Afghanistan – Five Afghan National Army soldiers were wounded by friendly fire from International Security Assistance Force troops in the Konar province 2 November. 

The ANA troops were on a patrol in the Pech district in the vicinity of an ISAF combat outpost.  ISAF troops fired on what they suspected were Anti-Afghan Forces within the area. 

The ANA were provided with immediate medical attention and were evacuated to the nearest medical facility.

“It is with deep regret that this incident has taken place; we have initiated an investigation to determine how this happened and how to prevent any future occurrences", said Col. John Spiszer, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, commander.  “We have the utmost respect for our Afghan partners and value their relationship with ISAF.”
