Civilians killed and injured during attacks on ISAF bases

KABUL, Afghanistan - On 12 October, early in the morning, an ISAF base in eastern Afghanistan was engaged by small-arms and indirect fire from a group of 20-30 insurgents.

Their attack proved unsuccessful as no casualties or damage was reported at the base.

Immediately after the event, it became clear to ISAF forces that two Local Nationals had been wounded by the insurgents’ attack. One was medically evacuated whilst the other was treated at the scene for minor wounds.

In the late evening, an explosion was heard in the vicinity of another ISAF base in the same region. The explosion was identified as having been due to a rocket, fired by insurgents, that had impacted in a local market.

One Afghan woman was killed and three children wounded during this attack. The wounded were sent to an ISAF medical facility for treatment.
