Afghans injured in Road Traffic Accident with ISAF convoy

Kandahar, Afghanistan - ANP and ISAF troops worked together to provide medical aid to several local national civilians injured in a vehicle accident yesterday in Shah Wali Khot district.

A car driven by a local national attempted to overtake vehicles which had already pulled over to allow the ISAF convoy to pass. In doing so, the car drove into an ISAF vehicle.

ISAF forces immediately called for medical evacuation and provided first-aid to the 3 adults and 7 children who were travelling in the vehicle.  Working alongside ISAF personnel, ANP forces transported the injured by road to the MIR WAIS Hospital in Kandahar City.

This incident underlines the need for drivers to take care when approaching ISAF convoys. It was fortunate that medical aid was nearby in this case as the vehicle’s occupants’ injuries were made worse due to their not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
