ISAF Forces help injured civilian following insurgent attack

KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF troops on a clearance operation in the Sangin area came under rockets and small arms fire attack September 22. After returning fire and calling in mortar support, the enemy was successfully suppressed and withdrew.

Following the attack, a group of civilians were seen transporting an injured female civilian toward Sangin. ISAF forces intercepted the group with a medic in case medical assistance was required.  The civilian had sustained injuries from shrapnel during the firefight and was taken to Bastion hospital for further treatment.

It is unclear how the civilian was injured, but ISAF soldiers have met with locals to reassure them that the best medical care is being provided for the injured civilian.

No further details are available at this time, as the incident is under investigation.
