ISAF soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - An ISAF soldier was killed in southern Afghanistan September 13 when a patrol struck an improvised explosive device (IED).

“Our thoughts are now with the friends and families of the soldier who died in this incident,” said Brigadier General Richard Blanchette, ISAF spokesperson. “We have the utmost respect and admiration for the ISAF troops who operate in this challenging environment.”

It is ISAF policy to not release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been notified.
