Tarin Kowt hospital gets new women’s department

KABUL, Afghanistan - The Tarin Kowt hospital women’s department has returned; Governor Hamdam opened the new department September 5.

The department was renewed with several apartments and a dining room for staff personnel. The entry and the waiting room for patients were also renovated.

In a short speech, Governor Hamdam praised the quality of care in the women’s department. He also stressed the importance of the superb cooperation with ISAF’s Australian Reconstruction Task Force and the Dutch Provincial Reconstruction Team. The Australian team was responsible for building the department.

On a daily basis about 200 patients are treated at the department’s outpatient clinic. The hospital can accommodate 20 patients in total. Two years ago only three people were working at the hospital, this has now increased to 15 people.
