ISAF injures civilian in Helmand

KABUL, Afghanistan - At about 11 a.m. September 1, ISAF soldiers protecting an ISAF base in Nahr-e-Sarraj district, Helmand, fired a warning shot at possible insurgents acting suspiciously in the vicinity of a known IED emplacement area.

During that engagement, ISAF injured a civilian.

The wounded civilian was given immediate medical assistance and taken by helicopter to an ISAF medical facility.

An investigation as to the exact circumstances of this incident is under way.

ISAF takes very seriously civilian casualties in military operations and values the life of every person. ISAF makes every effort to minimise the risk of any damage, injury or loss of life to civilians in the course of its operations in Afghanistan.
