Afghan civilian killed in attack on ISAF outpost

KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan civilian was shot by militants in an attack on an International Security Assistance Force outpost in Konar province August 28.

 

The militants attacked a small outpost in the Pech District with small-arms fire, wounding the civilian.  ISAF soldiers recovered the injured civilian and provided immediate medical care while under fire.  The civilian died while ISAF troops attempted to evacuate him to a hospital.

No ISAF soldiers were wounded in the attack.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of this Afghan citizen due to this unprovoked attack by reckless terrorists,” said Col. John Spiszer, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division commander. “Our thoughts are with the family during their time of loss.”
