ISAF, Pakistan coordinate artillery strikes

KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF fired multiple artillery rounds into Pakistan last night after the Pakistan military confirmed insurgents were preparing to fire rockets at an ISAF base in Paktika province.

Task Force Currahee gained positive identification of the insurgents and coordinated the attack with Pakistan.

Pakistan military officials called for two batteries of fire and informed ISAF forces that they would engage any insurgents attempting to flee.

Pakistan military personnel observed secondary explosions confirming that the insurgents were heavily armed with munitions.

Pakistan officers relayed that all rounds were on target, with no civilian casualties.

ISAF troops were unable to confirm the number of insurgents killed since they were inside Pakistan.
