ISAF commander condemns attack on international aid group

KABUL, Afghanistan - General David McKiernan, Commander of the International Security Assistance Force strongly condemned the attack on an international aid group’s convoy on August 13, in which three women, an American, a Canadian and a British-Canadian national were tragically killed. He echoed President Karzi’s statement in condemning the attack as unforgivable by the enemies of Afghanistan.

These women were in Afghanistan trying to help the Afghan people, he said, and have now given their lives as a result of a senseless, pointless and cowardly act.

This is against the culture of Afghanistan and is an unholy act. This attack will do nothing to diminish the international communities resolve to help the Government of Afghanistan and the Afghan people.
