Suicide attack kills, wounds civilians in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan - A suicide attacker exploded his vehicle near an ISAF convoy of armoured vehicles August 11 in Kabul killing one civilian and wounding 17, according to initial reports.

The attack also injured a small number of ISAF soldiers.

“We denounce this heartless act, and I offer our condolences and sympathies to the families of those killed and injured,” said Brigadier General Richard Blanchette, ISAF spokesperson. “This attacker’s target might have been ISAF soldiers, but he only succeeded in proving the insurgents’ utter disregard for the lives of the Afghan people. Acts such as this will not deter ISAF in our commitment to help Afghans create a better Afghanistan.”
