ISAF commander condemns attack in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan — The ISAF commander strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the capital city today that killed more than 40 and wounded more than a hundred.

“I offer my condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of those killed and injured,” said General David McKiernan. “This cowardly attack only reaffirms that the insurgent forces in Afghanistan show no concern for the people of Afghanistan.”

ISAF records indicate that insurgent forces in Afghanistan this year, including today’s attack, have killed more than 350 citizens and wounded nearly 800 throughout the country.

“These criminals have and will use the most extreme forms of violence to try and disrupt the rebuilding of Afghanistan and sow fear in the population,” the General said. “Directly attacking innocent people is unforgivable.”

He added, “As always, ISAF will continue to support the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan through this difficult event and to continue assistance in the security of the country.”
