Two Afghans slightly injured in an escalation of force incident in Kandahar City

Kabul, Afghanistan – Two Afghans have been slightly injured in an escalation of force incident today in Kandahar City.

The incident occurred when the two Afghans approached an ISAF patrol at high speed and did not heed the different warning signals used by the troops. As a result, a warning shot was fired which shattered the vehicle windshield causing non life threatening cuts to the occupants.

The driver and passenger were treated for minor cuts by ISAF medical personnel at the scene and taken to Camp Nathan Smith and then released.

ISAF goes to great lengths to minimise the risk to the civilian population and it is always extremely unfortunate when civilians are involved.
