ISAF soldier dies of non-battle injury

KABUL, Afghanistan – An ISAF soldier died of wounds sustained when a wheel of a large truck he was working on fell on him Friday at southern Afghanistan.

The soldier was transported to an ISAF medical facility for treatment, but later died of his injury.

“Our deepest sympathies are with the soldier's family and friends today as they deal with their loss,” said Brigadier General Carlos Branco, ISAF spokesperson. “The focus right now is to look after the soldier’s family and colleagues and to provide them the best possible support during this difficult time.”

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the soldier’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
