French ISAF troops open football pitch in Kabul

The Malek or tribal leader, and the head of the French Civil-Military Cooperation Team cut a ceremonial ribbon to open the football pitch built by French ISAF troops of Regional Command Capital recently.

KABUL, Afghanistan – French ISAF troops of Regional Command Capital (RC-Capital), responsible for Kabul, recently opened a football pitch they built and donated sport equipment to the local population of PD17, a northern Kabul district.

A football match between locals and RC-Capital’s French Battle Group ends with a 3-3 draw

After cutting a ceremonial ribbon, the Malek or tribal leader, and the head of the French Civil-Military Cooperation Team, gave 100 jerseys, donated by France, to local children. 

The football pitch was built by French military engineers who worked for two months to turn the area into a place for the district’s children.

A football match also took place between locals and RC-Capital’s French Battle Group, ending in a 3-3 draw.
