One ISAF soldier killed, four wounded in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – One ISAF soldier was killed and four were wounded in an engagement with insurgents during a patrol in southern Afghanistan Sunday.

The wounded soldiers were transported to an ISAF hospital to receive treatment.

"Our thoughts are now with the friends and families of these soldiers," said Brigadier General Carlos Branco, ISAF spokesperson. "These brave soldiers were trying to help bring peace and security to Afghanistan."

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualty’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been notified.
