ISAF discovers weapons cache

KABUL, Afghanistan – ISAF troops treated locals in Musahi Valley, south of Kabul, as part of a medical assistance visit recently.

During their visit to provide treatment to Halu Keyl Village locals, Regional Command Capital’s Italian Battlegroup received reports about a weapons cache in the area.

Troops found the reported cache which contained RPGs, mortar bombs, hand grenades and sub ammunitions in a local cemetery.

An explosive ordnance disposal team immediately responded to the report to identify and destroy the ammunition.

“The lasting and frequent military operations in close coordination with local elders and district governors are helping ISAF build a lasting relationship with locals,” said Brigadier General Carlos Branco, ISAF spokesperson.
