Two ISAF soldiers die, several wounded in Sabari explosion

KABUL, Afghanistan – Two ISAF soldiers died and 15 other soldiers were injured along with an Afghan National Policeman and four civilians in an explosion in Sabari District Monday.

While conducting a meeting at the Sabari District Center, an explosion of unknown origin caused a collapse of the building’s rooms. Because of the damages, it took the recovery team an extended time to assess the number of people affected by the explosion.

The injured were transported to ISAF medical facilities to receive treatment.

“Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the soldiers who died in this tragic incident and with those of the wounded soldiers and Afghans,” said Brig. Gen. Carlos Branco, ISAF spokesman.

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualty’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
