KABUL, Afghanistan – ISAF soldiers provided supplies and medical aid to 75 children from an orphanage in Chaghcharan District, Ghowr Province Feb. 13.

Medical staff from the hospital at Forward Support Base Herat gave the children, ages 3 to 14, vaccinations against meningitis.

Additionally, Chaghcharan Provincial Reconstruction Team soldiers provided Allawudin Village High School with furniture, stationary and equipment such as computers, whiteboards, a television, satellite receiver, radios, water containers and boilers.

The collaboration between the Regional Command West medical staff and the orphanage has been constant. In fact, Spanish doctors at the hospital have provided routine medical checks for the children on a weekly basis. Moreover, since July 2005, the ISAF hospital there has treated more than 8,000 Afghans.

These activities aim to improve education and health of Afghanistan children in Ghowr Province.
