ISAF soldier dies of small-arms fire wounds

KABUL, Afghanistan – An ISAF soldier died from wounds sustained in small-arms fire during a patrol in Nurestan Province today.

The soldier was evacuated to an ISAF medical facility where medical personnel attempted life-saving surgery.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this fallen soldier,” said Lt. Col. Claudia Foss, ISAF spokesperson. “ISAF remains committed to rebuilding Afghanistan, a cause for which this soldier gave his life.”

ISAF is currently investigating the incident.

In accordance with ISAF policy, the name and nationality are being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.
