ISAF soldier killed, five wounded in southern Afghanistan explosion

KABUL, Afghanistan – One ISAF soldier was killed and five soldiers were injured when their vehicles were involved in an explosion during a patrol in southern Afghanistan Jan. 20.

The soldiers’ injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

"This is a very difficult time right now and our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the family and friends of the brave soldier who was killed today," said Wing Commander Antony McCord, Regional Command South spokesperson. "This soldier was killed helping to provide security for the people of Afghanistan."

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualty’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
