Operation Winter Coat warms locals

KABUL, Afghanistan – Mazar-e Shariff Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) soldiers distributed winter clothes, donated by Finland’s private citizens, to 300 families during Operation Winter Coat recently.

The PRT visited villages in surrounding rural areas to help the children there who are most vulnerable during the winter. Warm clothes and shoes were distributed in Samangan, Balkh, Jowzjan and Sar-e-Pol Provinces.

Mazar-e Shariff PRT members provided refugee camps in Balkh Province with coal. Additionally, 3,500 kilograms of coal and 60 blankets were given to 142 families in Sholgara District. Another 5,250 kilograms of coal, 50 pairs of rubber boots, 50 blankets and children’s shoes were distributed at Galin Bafan to 120 families. And, a camp at Mawlana Jaludin Mohammad was given 2,450 kilograms of coal, winter clothes, 50 pairs of boots and 50 blankets for 80 families as part of Operation Winter Coat.
