Macedonian Minister of
Defense visits troops in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan – The Minister of Defense of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Lazar Elenovski, visited the ISAF compound in Kabul on 10 Jan 2008.

During his visit, the Macedonian representative met with senior ISAF leadership to talk about Macedonian troops and their contribution to the ISAF alliance. “I thanked Minister Elenovski for their willingness to stand up an Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT), as training Afghan National Security Forces is one of our main priorities right now,” said Lt. Gen. Jonathon Riley, ISAF Deputy Commander.

Elenovski also met with the Afghan Minister of Defense General Abdul Wardak, and visited with Macedonian troops in the Kabul area.

The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has approximately 125 troops in ISAF, mostly in Regional Command Capital. The ISAF mission is carried out by 39 nations consisting of approximately 41,000 troops.
