CHAGHCHARAN, Afghanistan – Four-hundred blankets donated by The Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) International School in Belgium were delivered to the Sultan Alamadin Ghori High School boy’s dormitory by PRT Chaghcharan soldiers Jan. 8.

The SHAPE institution gathered the blankets with great support of Gen. John Craddock, Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR) to provide better conditions for boys living in dormitory during the winter time.

The Lithuanian-led PRT Chaghcharan in Ghowr Province ensured the delivery of the approximately one ton of blankets.

“From the entire education department office, I would like to thank the PRT and the SHAPE International School in Belgium for collecting the blankets and SACEUR for arranging the delivery of these blankets to our school. There are 400 students in dormitory in Sultan Alamadin Ghori High School and the donation of these blankets is very much appreciated,” said Eid Gul Azem, Education Department deputy director.

General Craddock visited the high school in October 2007. During his visit, he was very interested in the priorities of developing Ghowr Province and the initiatives. The students expressed their positive opinions about security in Ghowr and identified the lack of reconstruction projects in the province at that time.

“Children are our future and we are putting all our expectations to this young generation. Therefore many people of Europe responded to the needs of Ghowr Province children. If we will not help to these Afghan kids today, our future dreams will never come true,” said Col. Albertas Kondrotas, Chaghcharan PRT Commander.
