ISAF soldier killed, four wounded in an explosion in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – An ISAF soldier was killed in an explosion during a patrol in southern Afghanistan. Four other soldiers were injured as a result of the blast.

The soldiers were carrying out a routine vehicle mounted patrol when the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by an explosion. They were immediately evacuated for medical care, sadly, one died of wounds inflicted by the explosion.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the soldier who was killed and those who were injured," said Wing Commander Antony McCord, Regional Command South spokesperson.

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualty’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
