ISAF aids civilian,
ANSF injured by suicide bomber

KABUL, Afghanistan – ISAF provided medical attention to an injured Afghan National Security Forces soldier and one Afghan civilian after a suicide bomber detonated himself at the front gate of Forward Operation Base Bermel in Paktika Province at approximately 10:45 a.m. today.

The suicide bomber also killed one Afghan civilian and four other ANSF soldiers.

Initial reports indicate that the man approached the front gate of the base claiming that he worked for a member of the Afghan Security Guard in nearby Sarobi district.  As he entered the gate, he detonated himself.

The injured ANSF soldier was evacuated to a nearby ISAF facility in Khost Province.

No ISAF soldiers were harmed in the attack. This incident is under investigation by Afghan and ISAF authorities.
