ISAF assists Afghan police and
civilians injured in Gereshk bombing

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF soldiers provided assistance after a number of local civilians and Afghan National Police were victims of an explosion in Gereshk today. The explosion occurred in the Bazaar in the centre of Gereshk near a mosque.  The explosion coincided with the first day of Eid.

Four Afghan National Police were killed in the blast which took place at approximately 11.30am. At least another 6 people were injured. 

Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF provided immediate assistance following the incident. Afghan National Security Forces were deployed to secure the area around the site of the explosion and 6 casualties, including Afghan National Police and civilians, were evacuated by helicopter to ISAF medical facilities.

No ISAF personnel were involved or injured in the incident.
