Afghan civilians injured by suicide bomber in Lashkar Gah

KABUL, Afghanistan - Three Afghan civilians, including two children were injured when a suicide bomber riding a bicycle detonated himself near to an Afghan National Police and ISAF patrol in the centre of Lashkar Gah at approximately 10 a.m., today.

The ANP/ISAF patrol provided immediate medical assistance following the incident and secured the area around the site of the explosion. The casualties were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“The Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF are doing all they can to protect and avert attacks on the local population.  Our thoughts are with those who have been hurt and we hope they make a full recovery,” said Lt. Col. Richard Eaton, an ISAF spokesman.

A vehicle in the ANP/ ISAF patrol sustain only slight damage and no ANP/ ISAF personnel were injured.
