Afghan civilian killed, two injured in Khowst

KABUL, Afghanistan – One Afghan child was killed and two more were injured today in Khowst Province. At this time, it is unclear as to exactly how the incident occurred, but the children were most likely in an area used by ISAF Forces as a training range.

The two injured children were treated at an International Security Assistance Force medical facility and are in stable condition.

“Whether we are conducting missions or training exercises, the safety of local Afghan civilians is always a priority for ISAF Forces,” said Maj. Joseph Kloppel, an ISAF spokesman.  “We are currently conducting an investigation to determine exactly what happened today and prevent any repeat of this in the future.”
