PRT employee killed in eastern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – A civilian employed at an ISAF Provisional Reconstruction Team was killed today in eastern Afghanistan.

The ISAF employee was killed when the vehicle the employee was traveling in struck an improvised explosive device.

“This incident reminds everyone that it is just not soldiers placed in harm’s way, but civilians working for the greater cause of a safe and free Afghan nation as well,” said Maj. Charles Anthony, ISAF Headquarters spokesman.  “Our thoughts at this very difficult time are with the friends, family and colleagues of this ISAF employee.”

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release a casualty’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
