Local national killed in road traffic accident

Kabul, Afghanistan – One local national died and several others were injured in a road traffic accident in Kandahar, Wednesday, Sept 19.

At approximately 10:50 a.m., yesterday a civilian car was involved in a collision with an ISAF patrol vehicle.  ISAF troops immediately secured the scene of the accident, and requested medical assistance when it became apparent that civilians had been injured. Three of the civilian wounded were taken to a medical facility at Kandahar Air Field where it was later confirmed that one had died.

“ISAF goes to great lengths to ensure that patrols are conducted safely. This incident is deeply regrettable,” said Wg Cdr Antony McCord, a spokesman for Regional Command South.
