Insurgent commander arrested in Tagab

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Directorate of Security with the support of ISAF soldiers executed a raid on a compound in Tagab District of Kapisa Province in Afghanistan.

The raid succeeded in the capture of a known insurgent leader and IED-facilitator who was wanted for questioning by the NDS in relation to a large number of criminal acts.

This operation demonstrates the resolve of the NDS and ISAF to remove insurgent leaders from Afghanistan. The seizure is an important arrest that clearly demonstrates the Government of Afghanistan’s employment of minimum force.

“Despite trying to hide within the community, the insurgent was arrested without resistance,” said Maj. Charles Anthony, ISAF spokesperson. “For the remaining insurgents, they have a chance to re-build their lives through the government’s reconciliation program, otherwise they will suffer the same fate as their leader.”
