KABUL, Afghanistan – One ISAF soldier was killed and two were wounded today when their vehicle struck an improvised-explosive device in eastern Afghanistan.

The soldiers were patrolling when the attack occurred.  The three soldiers were medically evacuated to an ISAF medical facility where one later died.

“The entire command mourns the loss of this soldier,” said Lt. Col. Claudia Foss, ISAF spokesperson.  “Our thoughts are with the soldier’s family and unit members.  This soldier gave his life helping to bring peace and security to Afghanistan.”

In accordance with NATO policy, ISAF does not release a casualty’s nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
