5 Afghans injured by artillery fire in Kunar

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Five Afghans were injured by ISAF artillery fire today at approximately 10 a.m. in Kunar province near Asadabad.

ISAF forces fired artillery at a known enemy position. Two of the artillery rounds fell short, apparently injuring the civilians.

Two of the injured, Afghan boys, suffered shrapnel wounds and were evacuated to ISAF medical facilities.

Three of the five injured were females who reportedly received minor wounds were evacuated to Asadabad hospital.

An investigation into this incident is being conducted in conjunction with Afghan National Police and local leaders.
