Suicide bomber kills only himself

KABUL, Afghanistan – An explosion occurred July 14 in Khowst province, when a suicide bomber detonated before reaching his target.

Hamid Khan, the bomber, was the only person killed in the blast. No local nationals, ANP or ISAF troops were in the vicinity at the time.

“Incidents like this highlight the senselessness of the enemy’s suicide bombing tactic,” said Maj. John Thomas, ISAF spokesman. “While we thank God no one else was killed, we are reminded that insurgent leaders effectively brainwash and make killing machines of people who could otherwise be good citizens who could contribute to Afghanistan’s future.”
