First joint training with Afghan helicopters

KABUL, Afghanistan –Afghan National Security Forces helicopters for the first time transported Afghan National Army soldiers as part of an operational mission, where they performed a joint patrol with ISAF soldiers July 9.

Soldiers from the ANA 201st Corps began the operation from Pol-e Charki and flew aboard the helicopters into the Musayi Valley.  There they conducted a patrol through the valley with ISAF soldiers.  Later in the day another platoon of ANA soldiers arrived to conduct patrol with ISAF soldiers.

“The aim of the patrol was to conduct a deliberate surge operation in the Musayi Valley to interdict and disrupt Taliban extremist activity and to develop a secure and safe environment,” said Lt. Gianluca Greco, Regional Command Capital official.
