Blast in bazaar kills 6 civilians; wounds 13 civilians, 7 ISAF

KABUL, Afghanistan – Six civilians were killed, plus 13 civilians and seven ISAF soldiers were wounded, by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in a bazaar in southern Afghanistan. Two of the civilians injured were children.

ISAF immediately provided medical care to the injured civilians and soldiers.

“This is an indiscriminate use of a Taliban extremist bomb which has killed and injured both civilians and soldiers,” said Lt. Col. Mike Smith, ISAF spokesman at Regional Command South.

ISAF and Coalition soldiers evacuated all the wounded to a military hospital in Tarin Kowt. The more seriously wounded are being transferred to an ISAF medical facility.
