1 Afghan killed, 1 injured in accidental shooting

KABUL, Afghanistan – Two Afghans were accidentally shot today by ISAF personnel responding to the scene of an earlier suicide-bomb attack in Kabul.  One of the Afghans later died.

"Initial indications are that an ISAF soldier's weapon accidentally fired," said Maj John Thomas, ISAF spokesman. “This is a tragic incident that we regret.  Our thoughts are with the family of the dead and injured Afghans.”

"We have no reason to believe that the gunfire was intentional.  We will fully investigate this incident, to determine just what happened," he said.

The ISAF soldiers were responding to the scene where a suicide bomber had detonated a vehicle bomb near a convoy.
