Taliban extremists target hospital with two IEDs

KABUL, Afghanistan – ISAF explosives ordnance disposal officials successfully defused an improvised explosive device at Mulki Public Hospital in Kandahar June 11. The Afghan National Police discovered the IED at 9:40 a.m.

While disarming the first IED, the EOD team discovered a secondary IED.

According to ISAF officials, the hospital served the civilian Afghan population.

“This disturbing targeting of innocent Afghans seeking medical help shows the blatant disregard for human life Taliban extremists have,” said Lt. Col. Maria Carl, ISAF spokesperson.  “To deliberately place an explosive in a facility designed to save lives is even more malicious.”
