ISAF to observe US Army’s 232nd birthday

KABUL, Afghanistan – Soldiers at ISAF Headquarters will celebrate the U.S. Army’s 232nd birthday with a cake-cutting ceremony June 14.

The observance will be noon at the ISAF Compound’s Destille Garden.

“This is a chance for all soldiers—airmen, sailors, Marines and our allied partners—to observe this milestone,” said Gen. Dan K. McNeill, ISAF commander.  “I want to recognize all soldiers who answered their nation’s call to duty, from the first riflemen companies formed in 1775 to today’s soldiers fighting on the dusty plains of Sangin.

“Soldiers are the guardians of freedom and the American way of life,” he added.
