Shura in Khaki Jabbar

KABUL, Afghanistan – International Security Assistance Force officials participated in a shura May 1 in Surobi district with representatives of the Government of Afghanistan and Afghan National Security Forces, and Surobi elders.

After the shura, the commander of Regional Command Capital gave the governor of Surobi a power generator donated by the Turkish Battle Group.

“We will also try to put another brick in the wall in ensuring security and stability in the Surobi district,” said Brig. Gen. Kasim Erdem, RC-Capital commander, speaking in Dari.  “I believe everybody here acknowledges the importance of a secure environment in reconstruction and development of Afghanistan, and that is the reason why International Security Assistance Force is here,” he said.

The purpose of the shura, held in the garden of the Surobi clinic, was to discuss security and the development of the district by the government and Surobi Elders.  The shura was the first since the changes of command for both Regional Command Capital and Combined Joint Operation Area.
