ANSF arrest 2 Taliban extremist leaders

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Two important Taliban extremist leaders were arrested May 7 by the Afghan National Police.  International Security Assistance Force troops from Task Force Uruzgan were called to support these members of the Afghan National Security Forces with an escort out of the area where they were temporarily detained.

The two men were apprehended close to Chora and will be processed through the legal system of the Government of Afghanistan in Uruzgan. Until that time the prisoners will stay under the supervision of 1 NLD/AUS Task Force Uruzgan. The Government of Afghanistan congratulated General Qasim, chief of police in Uruzgan, immediately when they heard of the arrests.
