Joint ANA and ISAF co-ordination leads to discovery of weapons cache

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – This week through a coordinated effort between the Afghan National Army (ANA) and ISAF forces, a weapons cache was located and removed in Kandahar City.

ISAF recovered over a dozen rockets, foreign-made fuses, and large calibre ordnance, including 107mm rockets, commonly used to launch rocket attacks against ISAF positions. These items are currently stored in an undisclosed ISAF location and will be destroyed at a later date.

“Removing such destructive ordnance from Taliban extremists is beneficial to civilians as well as ISAF and ANA. This type of ammunition is normally used by Taliban extremists to build improvised devises which are used against not only ISAF and Government of Afghanistan forces, but the local population as well,” stated Squadron Dave Marsh, Regional Command South spokesperson.
