ISAF’s Nuristan PRT leaders, provincial elders discuss relief efforts

JALALABAD AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – A delegation of elders from western Nuristan province sought relief for farmers during a meeting with members of ISAF’s Nuristan Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) at the PRT compound in Kala Gush, April 3.

Village elders from the Dow Ab and Mandol districts sought humanitarian relief for farmers in a Dow Ab community whose crops were recently damaged by a mudslide.

The elders also discussed plans to conduct a security shura in Dow Ab.

“Meetings like this demonstrate Afghan and ISAF outreach to even the most isolated rural regions,” said Major Eric Zenk, an ISAF spokesman. “They also show how proactive the communities are with ISAF forces in the region. The PRT in Kala Gush has built a very special relationship with the people of Nuristan, especially the western parts of the province.”
