ISAF forces deliver humanitarian aid to local village

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Yesterday, ISAF forces from II Squadron, Royal Air Force Regiment delivered much needed humanitarian aid and provided medical assistance to a village near Kandahar Airfield in Kandahar Province.

ISAF will not provide the name of the village due to the possibility of retribution from extremists for receiving support from ISAF.

Over eight tons of food, clothes, medical supplies and toys were delivered by ISAF forces for distribution. The village was assessed for humanitarian aid needs during a visit by ISAF forces earlier this month.

“Yesterday’s village outreach is part of ISAF’s continuing commitment to assessing the needs of villagers and providing humanitarian aid and medical support when a need has been identified,” stated Squadron Leader Dave Marsh, spokesman for ISAF Regional Command South.

During yesterday’s visit, close to 30 villagers, including children, had an opportunity to also meet with an ISAF medical practitioner. The patients received medical advice, vitamins and medicine for minor ailments.
