Afghan and ISAF Forces assist flood victims in Uruzgan

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - Local Afghan officials, together with ISAF Forces, recently provided humanitarian assistance to an estimated 500 Afghan locals who were affected by the recent flooding in the Uruzgan Province.

Shelters were immediately established to accommodate villagers forced out of their homes due to the flooding; supplies consisting of food, blankets and tarps were also provided to Afghan civilians.  In addition, medical aid was provided to Afghan civilians who had suffered minor injuries.

“Local Afghan government officials and ISAF members will not abandon Afghan civilians in their time of need,” said Lt Col David Accetta, an ISAF spokesperson.  “Together we will continue to provide needed support to all Afghan civilians affected by the recent flooding.”
